Cooking Instructions
Choose one of the following methods according to your usual practice of cooking and the desired quantity. For best results, wash the uncooked rice under warm running water, until the water runs clear. Adjust the cooking time to achieve the rice firmness you prefer.
1. Bring 4 cups of water to boil.
2. Stir in 1 cup (200g.) of rice. Add salt, butter or oil, if desired.
3. Boil it uncovered for 15 minutes, occasionally lifting with a fork.
4. Drain the rice, rinse with hot water and serve.
Closed Pot Method
1. Measure 2½ cups of water into a heavy based vessel (at least 2 ltr. capacity) and bring to boil.
2. Stir in 1 cup (200g.) of rice. Add salt, butter or oil, if desired.
3. Cover the vessel and simmer for 15-20 minutes until all the water is absorbed.
4. Drain well and serve.
Microwave Method
1. Place 1 cup of rice in a deep microwave safe bowl.
2. Add 2 cups of water. Add salt, butter or oil, if desired.
3. Cover with a lid or microwave safe plastic wrap and cook on HIGH for 12-15 minutes.
4. Fluff the rice and let stand for 5 minutes and then serve.
The above is best on a 650 watt. microwave. Use only as a guide.

TOMATO SPINACH PULAO
Ingredients
Tamatar Palak Bhat
Super Kohinoor Basmati Rice 400g
Onions, thinly sliced 30g
Tomatoes, chopped 1cup
Spinach (Palak), chopped 275g
Refined Oil 50ml
Turmeric Powder ¼ tsp
Coriander Seeds, roasted powdered 1 tsp
Cumin Seeds, roasted powdered 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Method :
1. Heat oil in a saucepan, add sliced onions and saute until brown.
2. Add rice (pre-soaked for at least 20 minutes, washed and drained) and stir carefully for
2 minutes.
3. Add tomatoes, spinach (pre-cooked in ½ cup water for 5-7 minutes), turmeric powder, coriander powder, cumin powder and salt. Stir carefully to mix well and heat through.
4. Add 3 cups of water and bring to boil. Cover the pan with a tight lid and reduce heat to very low. Continue to cook for 15-20 minutes. Remove cover and stir the rice gently. Cook for another
5 minutes or until no water remains.
5. Remove the lid and garnish with fresh coriander leaves before serving.
