Spicy Rice Flour Pancakes (Chawal Ka Cheela)




2 cups / 230 gm : Rice flour
1 tsp / 6 gm : garlic (lasan), ground
1 tsp / 6 gm : Ginger (adrak), ground
1 tsp / 2 gm : Red chilli powder
tsp : Carom (ajwain) seeds (optional)
Salt to taste    
4 : Green chillies, finely chopped
Ghee for frying    


Serves: 4-6


  • Mix all the ingredients together except ghee. Add enough water to make a smooth pancake-like batter
  • Heat 1 tbsp ghee on a flat pan; pour one ladleful of the batter and spread the batter into a disc with the back of the ladle. Fry until light brown and then flip over and do the same. Remove and repeat until all the batter is consumed.
